Globalised industry and business offers opportunities for placement anywhere in the world. This opens new challenges for us at DBIT to prepare our students to look beyond borders for opportunities. This will require our students to continually learn, acquire skills and at the same time expand their knowledge. We expect our students to be multi-skilled, multi-lingual, good human beings, following the tradition of the Salesians of Don Bosco.
We, the management and staff at DBIT are striving to create an infrastructure and initiate vibrant processes under the umbrella of DBIT Plus. Some of the initiatives are:
- Training beyond University Syllabus
- Project Based Learning
- Language Laboratory
- Value Education
- Personality Enhancement Programme
We also believe that undergraduate students can take part in Research and Development in technology areas. The initiatives that “DUCS” students Sripathi Pai, Utkarsh Atmaram and others have taken in developing software for automatic program checking, is one example of research and development culture that is followed at DBIT.
The Innovation Centre under the able leadership of Prof. Sundararajan has initiated several projects which have market potential. We have also won a contract worth Rs. 4.5 Lakhs to develop a Wrap around Antenna. Our students would work on this project.
We are in the process of establishing research and development linkages with other Don Bosco Institutions abroad like in Japan, Brazil, Spain to name a few.
We expect our teaching faculty to carry out research and development since that is one of the surest ways to develop themselves academically.
Our long term goal is to publish our own journal containing the work done by our staff and students.
Serving and growing in the 21 st century world is going to be a competitive proposition. This will need a culture of innovation, research and development to exist at DBIT. This is what we should all create together.
