DBIT ACM Students' Chapter Activities
The DBIT ACM Students’ Chapter organized the following events and workshops. This enabled students to move beyond curriculum limits and explore the practical world.
Computer Quiz
The written eliminations were conducted on 28 July, 2004 and the live finals on, 30 July, 2004. The quiz had questions regarding the various Computer Technology, Current Developments, Famous people related to this field etc.
The quiz was made interesting by structuring Audio/ Visual and buzzer rounds.
Networking and LAN Security Workshop
This workshop held on 9 September 2004 aimed at providing the basic knowledge of Networking and LAN Security. The following topics were covered:
- Network topologies
- Hub, switch, router
- Protocols (TCP,UDP)
- TelNet, FTP
- IP spoofing
- Firewalls
Hardware Assembly Workshop
This workshop held on 15 September 2004 was an exciting experience for the 35 participants. The practical knowledge of Hardware assembling and Operating System Installation covered the following topics.
- Familiarisation of different components
- Assembling the various components
- Partitioning the Hard disk and preparing it for installation
- Installing the Operating System
- Installing the System Drivers
