Dark clouds loomed over the arena, a low murmur filled the air...suddenly a roar backed by cheers from the wild crowd. The games had begun!
DBIT presents –Colosseum ’07, the annual inter-collegiate techfest. And how do we relate to a Roman theatre you ask? Well, the Roman Colosseum was the biggest arena for games where power and skill were on display. The winners took home a precious prize - their life. Here at DBIT we provide you with an opportunity to fight for your title and claim your prize.!
Colosseum ’07 was kick-started with the Inauguration ceremony. Swapnesh Joseph, the student chairperson gave us an insight into what went into the making of Colosseum ’07, the failures and the success, the bad times and the good.!
The speech by the Chief Guest, Dr. DB Phatak was both inspiring as well as encouraging. We learned the basic difference between excellence and plain mediocrity. He exhorted the students to push the limits with curiosity, boldness to ask questions and perseverance. His final message was ” Re-discover the child in you” by dreaming big, enjoying life and working hard.!
The events were a colorful mixture of technical as well as not so technical competitions.!
For our hard core techies, we had Programming, Circuit and Web Designing along with the Technical Paper Presentations. Along with these were the intellectually stimulating Seminars and Workshops on various current themes.!
The Robotics events were a challenge in themselves…with all the participants aiming for the crown! Be it the speed, the Robot Wars or the Autonomous Robots.!
For all our gaming champs out there- we had the LAN gaming competition..in store was NFS-most wanted, QUAKE,FIFA ’07 and the all famous Counter Strike.!
For those who just wanted a bit of fun-you had your chance at Junkyard Wars, where the mind was pushed to its innovative best.!
And finally our USP-the Techathon! It attracted numerous entries and the enthusiasm was contagious!!!
Excellent planning and smooth execution by the organizers at DBIT, besides the many learning experiences, benefited the students immensely and helped make Colosseum'07 a memorable event.!
